2008 Darfur Relief - Sun Springs Water Project |
Mr. Coiner is now organizing a new project where well water pumping equipment powered by solar energy photovoltaics will be delivered to several African Union safe zones in the West Darfur region. We will be teaming with the Swiss company Medair, to help implement the project on the ground. The Boston University Remote Sensing Department in July 2007 discovered an underground lake in the Darfur region that can supply the much needed drinking water. Our goal is to reduce human rights violations (particularly women rape reported to be up to 1,000 per day) and children torture that occurs when local tribes-people venture into hostile desert areas to gather water and firewood. Another spin-off benefit of this program is to create "classroom time" that will become available to the children who are currently having to walk over 2 hours each day in search of these supplies. I am seeking individuals who can sponsor $2,500 per pump system for this effort. Each system installed will give life in ways not achieved before. Corporations, religious organizations, and celebrities are also encouraged to participate in this rare opportunity to help discouraged women of the world.. |
